Abstract
Infection in a wound is a manifestation of a disturbed host-bacteria e quilibrium in favor of the bacteria. This inhibits the multiple proces ses involved in the wound healing scheme because each process involved in healing fan he shown to be affected by bacteria. Prevention or man agement of wound infections requires an understanding of how each prop hylactic or therapeutic maneuver will work to maintain or reestablish the bacterial hose balance. Only when this equilibrium is in balance c an the normal processes of wound healing proceed to give a satisfactor y healing trajectory.
