Symmetric, peripherally substituted dihydroxysilicon tetrapyrazinoporphyraz
ines 5 and 6 were synthesized by reacting the diiminoisoindolines 1 and 2 w
ith SiCl4 in pyridine as solvent at considerably low temperature followed b
y hydrolysis of the intermediate dichlorosilicon tetrapyrazinoporphyrazines
3 and 4. In addition, the preparation of the bisaxially substituted trialk
ylsilyloxysilicon tetrapyrazinoporphyrazines 11 and 12, the corresponding t
rialkylsilyloxyhydroxy compound 14 and the mu-oxo dimer 15 is also reported
