Abstract
The new pentacyclic triterpene, 11 alpha-methoxy-beta-amyrin (1), was isola ted from Myroxylon balsam um (L.) Harms (syn. Myroxylon peruiferum L.f.). I ts structure was established on the basis of IR, MS, IH NMR, C-13 NMR. 2D N MR experiments were also used to establish the structure and the hydrogen a nd carbon chemical shift assignments of the new triterpene.
