Optimal system design considering warranty, periodic preventive maintenance, and minimal repair

This paper presents a cost minimisation model for an optimal design of a mi xed series-parallel system with deteriorating components. The model incorpo rates warranty, periodic preventive maintenance, and minimal repair in the design of system configuration. Imperfect repair is adopted to model the ef fect of preventive maintenance. Both free and pro-rata warranty policies ar e considered. A numerical example is given to demonstrate the application o f this model.
