Abstract
We present measurements of initial adsorption probabilities, S-0, as well a s its coverage dependence, S(Theta(CO)), of CO on oxygen terminated ZnO(000 1). The impact energies of the CO (48 meV < E-i < 750 meV) and surfaces tem perature (75 K < T-S < 220 K) have been varied. The shape of the coverage d ependent adsorption probability curves indicates the presence of precursor mediated adsorption. The heat of adsorption has been determined to (7-2 The ta(CO)) kcal/mol by assuming a pre-exponential factor of 1 x 10(13) l/s. (C ) 2000 American Vacuum Society. [S0734-2101(00)11704-X].
