A new passive aerodynamic control method is proposed. The system uses TMD m
echanism to activate the control plates, which modify airflow around the de
ck to stabilize bridge motion. The effectiveness of the proposed model is v
erified experimentally and analytically. Additionally, various parameters o
f the proposed system and applicability to a long span bridge were investig
ated. Based on the investigation, it is found that the proposed model is ve
ry effective in suppressing flutter. In the analytical results, the model a
lso shows remarkable robustness against variation of structural properties.
