Kinetics of soot formation is studied in tetrachloromethane pyrolysis behin
d shock waves. The time dependences of macrokinetic characteristics of soot
particle growth (the induction period, the soot yield, and the apparent ra
te constant of soot particle growth) are determined. Based on the experimen
tal data, the quantitative model of soot formation is developed for tetrach
loromethane pyrolysis behind shock waves. Special attention is paid to the
thermal effects in CCl4 pyrolysis.
