The Laboulbeniales are predominantly parasites of true insects (Hexapo
da), infesting mostly Coleoptera. Two members of the Laboulbeniales ar
e reported from South Africa for the first time; Polyandromyces coptos
omalis Thaxter and Laboulbenia monoleptae Balazuc. Both fungi are illu
strated and their distribution, morphology, host specificity and nutri
tion are discussed.
