Abstract
The pressures placed upon medical teachers to fulfil their academic duties are growing Teaching demands are increasing as curriculum innovations are m ore time intensive. The pressures to obtain research funding and to publish are increasing as well. In order to succeed in this demanding environment, medical teachers must consider the duties expected of them and recognize t he importance of discharging their duties in the context of the organizatio n in which they work. Despite mounting pressures, there art! hopeful signs that institutions are adapting to these demands in positive ways.
