Abstract
A self-adjusting polarization-agile patch antenna is presented. It allows u s to track a linear polarization, if the received field is depolarized, to always obtain the maximum signal level. Two varactor diodes are connected t o the patch to produce three states of linear polarization. The depolarizat ion of the incident wave is used to produce the appropriate state of de vol tage biasing, using a conversion circuit of a microwave signal into a de on e, and then to control the independently biased varactors. Unlike a circula r polarization antenna, this patch allows Irs to avoid a 3 dB loss of the r eceived signal magnitude. (C) 2000 John Wiley & Sons. Inc.
