Overview of SoC technology

It is roughly ten years since the first appearance of the word, "System LSI ," which is used differently from such words as "LSI," ''VLSI" and "ULSI" t hat express the scale. Now, this new idea has come true. It is, however, al so true that we are facing many new problems with it at the same time. This preface discusses these problems concerning System LSI realization and giv es an overview of the papers in this issue.
