NOOTROPIC ANALOG OF ADRENOCORTICOTROPIN 4 -10-SEMAX (THE EXPERIENCE OF DESIGN AND INVESTIGATION OVER 15 YEARS)

Semax is one of the rare analogues of regulatory peptides which underw ent all stages from fundamental investigations to practical usage, It has been demonstrated that this peptide is capable to stimulate operat ive memory and attention, to increase resistance to hypoxia and to imp rove brain circulation in experimental animals and human beings over p rolonged period (20-24 h after intranasal administration in doses 0.01 5-0.050 mg/kg). Semax significantly improves memory and attention in h ealthy men under extremal conditions of activities. Moreover at presen t SEMAX is successfully used in treatment of patients with different d iseases of CNS. In the majority of cases the peptide exhibited positiv e effects and in no case it produced negative side actions or complica tions connected with it's administration. There is good reason to beli eve that medical potentialities of SEMAX have not been exhausted and i n future new possibilities of its usage will be revealed.
