Abstract
A setup is proposed in which the number-state expansion of a one-mode trave ling-wave optical field is truncated so as to Leave its vacuum, one-, and t wo-photon components. The process is a realization of quantum teleportation on a three-state basis. The possibility of generalization to the first n c omponents is also considered.
