Abstract
The structural disorder in (Ba2Cu2O4+x)/(CaCuO2)(n) superlattices with ultr athin individual layers consisting of a noninteger number of unit cells is investigated. X-ray diffration and reflection high energy electron diffract ion show that a two-dimensional layer by layer growth occurs and that layer s of mixed composition are corrugated to adjust the internal stresses. On t he basis of these conclusions we can outline an explanation for the behavio r of T-c vs n in (Ba2Cu2O4+x)/(CaCuO2)(n) superlattices.
