The Saltings, Millennium Coastal Park

Redevelopment of former industrial areas is transforming the coastline in t he area of Llanelli, South Wales as part of the Millennium Coastal Park dev elopment. This includes, as part of the redevelopment, the creation of a li near cycleway and footpath linking areas of the Park throughout its 22 km l ength. The Pembrey Link (subsequently renamed 'The Saltings') forms the wes tern and final section of the Park development and runs through an area of scenic coastline, which overlooks the Cower Peninsula. As a result of exten sive consultation and sympathetic design at all stages-concept, environment al assessment, detailed design and construction-a stimulating section of th e Coastal Park has been developed. This enables both cyclists and pedestria ns to experience this dynamic and environmentally sensitive area of the coa st in safety.
