A silicon-based microelectrode array consisting of various electrode shapes
and sizes has been developed. This model sensor array allows a systematic
study of three important aspects of electrochemical sensing: the influence
of the electrode geometries and the passivation materials on corrosion effe
cts and kinetics, the application of thin gold film electrodes for the trac
e analysis of heavy metals, and the galvanic modification of single microel
ectrodes. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
