Abstract
In patients with atrial fibrillation, restoration to sinus rhythm relieves symptoms, improves hemodynamics, and may prevent stroke and atrial remodeli ng. The initial cardioversion energy should be 360 J given through an anter ior-posterior electrode position for atrial fibrillation present for greate r than or equal to 48 hours.
