Pw. Deleeuw et Aa. Kroon, FIXED LOW-DOSE COMBINATION OF AN ANGIOTENSIN-CONVERTING ENZYME-INHIBITOR AND A CALCIUM-CHANNEL BLOCKER DRUG IN THE TREATMENT OF ESSENTIAL-HYPERTENSION, Journal of hypertension, 15, 1997, pp. 39-42
Aim To review the possibilities of combination treatment in hypertensi
on with special emphasis on the combination of an angiotensin converti
ng enzyme (ACE) inhibitor and a calcium channel blocker. Results An in
creasing number of combination drugs has become available. Fixed combi
nations, often low-dose, have proved suitable for the treatment of hyp
ertension, even as first-line therapy. Conclusion A fixed combination
of an ACE inhibitor and a calcium channel blocker, in particular the c
ombination of trandolapril and verapamil, is a suitable alternative to
existing treatment modalities.
