Abstract
(1+1') resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) and dispersive pho toelectron (PE) spectrometry have been used to identify the ionic cores ass ociated with ungerade Xe-2 Rydberg states dissociating to Xe(S-1(0))+(Xe+ 6 p[1/2](0), Xe-. 5d[5/2](3)(0), and Xe+[3/2](1)(0)). Several features in the PE spectra were also found to originate from the ionization of excited Xe atom terms produced by molecular predissociation. These results support a p revious REMPI / time-of-flight mass spectrometry study on the excited state s considered here, and confirm predictions made from angular momentum argum ents.
