Abstract
The CO adduct of a thiolate-coordinated heme was obtained by two different methods and characterized by UV-vis and resonance Raman spectroscopy. The n u(Fe-CO) band was observed at 428 cm(-1). The unusually low frequency indic ates the extremely strong sigma-donation from the thiolate axial ligand to the heme iron.
