Abstract
Predicting the biologic behavior of melanocytic neoplasms (benign versus ma lignant) based on histology is one of the most difficult challenges in surg ical pathology and dermatology. Success in the field of melanocytic neoplas ia can be achieved by two means: performing excisions or biopsies that maxi mize the obtainable histologic information and providing sufficient history .
