Systemic treatment of malignant melanoma

Once there is evidence of systemic involvement in malignant melanoma, treat ment options become severely limited and the disease is virtually incurable . There are,however, options available to treat patients, including single- agent chemotherapy, single-agent biologic response modifier (BRM), combinat ion chemotherapy, and the combination of chemotherapeutic agents and BRMs. These treatment modalities and their indications for use are discussed.
