The hydroisomerization of n-hexane on platinum/hydrogen-mordenite cata
lyst was investigated over a wide range of operating conditions. The e
ffect of temperature and liquid hourly space velocity on the yield of
liquid and gas products, their composition and properties were examine
d. Experimental results showed that monobranched isomers and dibranche
d ones are produced consecutively during skeletal rearrangement. Crack
ing reactions occurred only at higher temperatures and the light produ
cts mainly came from the cracking of branched isomers as a secondary r
eaction.
