Whereas in the past, FPGAs have tended to lag behind the leading edge devel opments in technology, the announcement by Xilinx that their latest extende d memory (EM) FPGAs would incorporate copper interconnect moves programmabl e devices firmly to the very leading edge of today's technology. We asked X ilinx to position their latest move and the specific benefits it will offer designers.
