Review of Biomass as a Source of energy for India

This article deals with a study on the prospect and perspective of bio-ener gy in India. The present bio-energy status in India has been compared with that elsewhere. A brief description of the research work carried out so far in this area in RRL Bhubaneswar is presented. It has been concluded that b iomass has immense potential in the Indian context. All efforts should be m ade to make optimum use of it. An action-oriented national policy needs to be introduced for proper utilization of biomass resources available in the country.
