P. Llamas et al., Abnormal bleeding in a patient with chronic lymphocytic leukemia and acutehepatitis due to a circulating heparin-like anticoagulant, HAEMATOLOG, 85(7), 2000, pp. 777-778
We report a case of a patient with leukemia and a history of abnormal bleed
ing. Laboratory tests were compatible with acute hepatitis. Coagulation ass
ays were normal except a prolonged thrombin time (TT). The study of prolong
ed TT suggested a heparin-like anticoagulant activity as the cause. The TT
was reduced progressively as hepatic enzymes returned to a normal range.
