This paper presents the rationale for the use of method of moments (MoM) fo
r evaluation of electromagnetic field scattered by dielectric random fracta
l surfaces, Derivation of the algorithm is given along with a reliable frac
tal profile generation procedure, Numerical results are compared and valida
ted against those obtained under the hypotheses of the small perturbation s
cattering theory, available together with the applicability limits in the c
urrent literature. Choice of key parameters pertinent to MoM is also discus
sed. Numerical results are finally used to investigate the behavior of the
electromagnetic scattering from fractal surfaces.
