Abstract
Analyses of shallow seismic profiles on the outer continental shelf, betwee n Krishna and Godavari valleys off central east coast of India, reveal prog rading sedimentary sequences on the shelf as well as on the flanks of the v alleys. The progradation on the outer shelf is associated with palaeovalley s. A non-depositional I erosional unconformity surface has been recognised throughout the shelf at 20-25m subsurface. This is followed by a transgress ive sequence of progradational sediments deposited during rising eustatic s ea level accompanied by subsidence of the sea floor.
