Abstract
The vertical distribution of Daphnia in experimental tubes is influenced by fish kairomone concentration in the 'epilimnion' and oxygen conditions in the 'hypolimnion'. Daphnids trade off reduced predation mortality in a refu ge against disadvantages due to unfavourable oxygen conditions.
