Abstract
The significance of the link between plasma cholesterol concentrations and risk of cerebrovascular disease (CVD) in the elderly is still debated. In a case-control study we found that elderly patients with ischaemic CVD have an atherogenic lipid profile, despite having low or normal total cholestero l concentrations.
