Abstract
A 67-year-old man suffering from rheumatoid polyarthritis was hospitalized because of Methotrexat-induced pancytopenia. He complained about intermitte nt low-grade fever, joint pains and anemia. By endoscopic and duodenal biop sy Whipple's disease was diagnosed. Under antibiotic treatment with Ceftria xon the patient recovered within a few days. Antibiotic therapy was continu ed with tetracycline. A controll-biopsy after three months showed a clear i mprovement of the histological changes.
