D. Breuer et al., SYMMETRICAL DISPERSION COMPENSATION FOR STANDARD MONOMODE-FIBER-BASEDCOMMUNICATION-SYSTEMS WITH LARGE AMPLIFIER SPACING, Optics letters, 22(13), 1997, pp. 982-984
Optical 10-Gbit/s return-to-zero pulse transmission in cascaded commun
ication systems using dispersion compensation of the standard monomode
fiber with large amplifier spacing is examined. It is shown that puls
e distortions that are due to Kerr nonlinearity are significantly dimi
nished by symmetrical ordering of the compensation sections when the t
otal number of precompensation and postcompensation sections is equal.
Repositioning of these sections is not critical. (C) 1997 Optical Soc
