Abstract
Six new species of New Zealand polypore fungi are described and illustrated . Antrodia novaezelandiae sp. nov, has resupinate basidiocarps with regular , angular, straw-coloured pores, and allantoid spores. Byssomerulius psitta cinus sp. nov. is easily recognised in the field by bright reddish purple, resupinate basidiocarps which fade on drying to various colours. Dichomitus newhookii sp, nov. has cushion-shaped resupinate basidiocarps with large p ores and large, sometimes 1-4-septate basidiospores. Phellinus dingleyae sp . nov, was recorded previously in New Zealand as P. pachyphloeus, from whic h it is separated by the smaller and sometimes resupinate basidiocarps, sca ttered hymenial setae, and larger, thick-walled basidiospores. Rigidoporus longicystidius sp. nov. is recognised by its pileate habit, elongate cystid ia in both trama and context, and thick-walled spores. Wrightoporia micropo ra sp. nov. has a dimitic hyphal system with dextrinoid skeletal hyphae and subglobose amyloid spores. Specimens previously reported from New Zealand and Australia as Tyromyces semisupinus have been redetermined as Antrodiell a citrea.
