Abstract
This paper presents the analytical and numerical theory of the paraxial ion trajectory through the spiral inflector. Analytical expressions for the eq uations which describe the paraxial ion trajectory are derived. The analyti cal derivations of the electric field expansion around the central ion traj ectory has also been studied. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights res erved.
