Abstract
Chemical modification of a chloromethylated polysulfone was performed by us ing siloxane-containing aliphatic carboxylic salts as modification agents a nd phase transfer catalysis. The obtained substitution degrees ranged betwe en around 0.1 and 0.9, as determined by H-1 NMR, IR and elemental analyses. The introduction of siloxane-aliphatic moieties induced a decrease in the glass transition temperature (T-g) values of the obtained products in compa rison to the starting polysulfone. All the modified polysulfones showed pha se separation in optical microscopy. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rig hts reserved.
