THE LIST OF THE CHROMOSOME RACES OF THE COMMON SHREW (SOREX-ARANEUS)

The list of chromosome races of the common shrew (Sorex araneus) was c ompiled, the vast literature has been scrutinized, and unpublished dat a have been added. Altogether, 50 chromosome races could be listed. Th e name and its synonyms, chromosomal constitution, author of the descr iption, type locality, known distribution range, and additional inform ation are reported for individual races. The present list should be co nsidered a working document that will be regularly updated and supplem ented.
