From extraction experiments with Na-22 as a tracer, the extraction constant
corresponding to the equilibrium Sr2+(aq) + (NaL+)-Na-2(nb) reversible arr
ow SrL22+(nb) + 2Na(+)(aq) taking place in the two-phase water-nitrobenzene
system (L = 15-crown-5; aq = aqueous phase, nb = nitrobenzene phase) was e
valuated as logK(ex)(Sr2+, 2NaL(+)) = 1.9+/-0.1. Further, the stability con
stant of the complex SrL22+ in nitrobenzene saturated with water was calcul
ated for a temperature of 25 degrees C: log beta(nb)(SrL22+) = 15.2+/-0.1.
