Ma. Kovaleva et al., COMPARATIVE-STUDY OF THE PROTEIN-COMPOSITION OF HUMAN SKELETAL AND HEART MUSCLES BY 2-DIMENSIONAL ELECTROPHORESIS, Biochemistry, 59(5), 1994, pp. 493-497
Using a modification of O'Farrell's method of two-dimensional electrop
horesis, the protein composition of human skeletal muscles was compare
d to that of human myocardium. The variability of protein composition
was analyzed in nine types of skeletal muscle tissue. A number of skel
etal and heart muscle proteins were identified on the electrophoregram
s. Both common and tissue-specific groups of muscle tissue polypeptide
s were revealed.
