Abstract
The United States dairy industry will not likely be a major player in world dairy markets. The level of government intervention in the dairy industry has been reduced markedly since the late 1980s. Additional policy change in the U.S. dairy industry will not happen without a great deal of debate. Future dairy policy changes could depend upon what region of the country ha s the strongest political hand.
