H. Sarp et G. Favreau, Second occurrence of the new mineral cobaltlotharmeyerite Ca (Co, Fe, Ni)(2) (AsO4)(2) (OH,H2O)(2)., ARCH SCI, 53(1), 2000, pp. 49-54
Second occurrence of cobaltrotharmeyerite is discovered at Bou Azzer Mine,
Maroc. It is associated with roselite, roselite-beta, dolomite and quartz.
The acicular crystals and lamellar curved crystals form respectivly spherul
es or aggregates. The color is orange-brown. A chemical analysis was carrie
d out by means of electron microprobe: CoO 15,94. CaO 12,60; NiO 3,36; MgO
0,72; Fe2O3 11,97, As2O5 49,02; H2O (from the ideal formula) 6,39. The mine
ral is monoclinic, with a = 9,045(7), b = 6, 233(3), c = 7, 427(4) Angstrom
, beta = 115,36(5)degrees space group C2/m, V = 378,3 Angstrom(3) and Z = 2
. The density is 4,2 (meas.) and 4,09 g/cm(3) (calc.). The strongest lines
in the X-ray diffraction pattern are [din Angstrom, (hkl), Ivis.]: 4,96 (11
0)(40), 4,600 ((1) over bar 11)(30), 3,402 ((2) over bar 02)(90), 3,188 ((1
) over bar 12)(80), 2,971 (201)(100), 2,830 (021)(40), 2,712 (311)(40), 2,5
51 (221)(70).
