Abstract
continuous perforated rotating disc contactor was used to extract bovine se rum albumin (BSA) with aqueous two-phase systems based on polyethylene glyc ol (PEG) and phosphate salts. The dispersed phase holdup and mass transfer coefficient were determined. It was found that the dispersed phase holdup i ncreased with increasing PEG phase velocity. The overall mass transfer coef ficient for BSA was independent of the PEG phase velocity.
