Ag-x(As033S0.67)(100-x) amorphous chalcogenide thin films have been prepare
d by the process of photodissolution or photodoping, reaching silver concen
trations of up to 16.5 at. %. The optical constants df the photodoped thin-
film samples have been calculated from the envelopes of the transmission sp
ectra, taken at normal incidence. The dispersion of the refractive index wa
s analysed on the basis of the single-oscillator model proposed by Wemple a
nd DiDomenico. This model allo cvs obtaining structural information of the
silver-photodoped layers from optical data. The optical absorption edge is
described using the non-direct transition model suggested by Tauc, and a cl
ear decrease of the optical gay of the photodoped product, with the silver
content, has been found.
