The most commonly used materials in the manufacture of urological devi
ces are discussed with respect to their application to urinary cathete
rs, penile implants, testicular implants, artificial urinary sphincter
s, and urological stents. The manufacturing, physical properties, and
general chemical and biological behavior of these materials are review
ed. Attention is paid to future research trends and the general condit
ion of the field of urological device materials.
