PROTEIN DETERMINATION WITH COOMASSIE BRILLIANT BLUE G-250

Techniques used to determine proteins by staining with Coomassie brill iant blue are reviewed. The physicochemical and optical properties of the dye are considered in detail. The mechanisms of binding of Coomass ie brilliant blue G-250 to proteins are discussed. Modifications of te chniques that use the dye binding for protein determination are critic ally reviewed. The major fields of medicine, biochemistry, and biotech nology to which the method is applicable are described.
