The compositions of the extracellular enzyme complexes of the basidiom
ycetes Coriolus villosus and Phanerochaete sanguinea were studied and
their distinctions noted. Both fungi exhibit aryl-beta-glucosidase and
xylanase activity; P. sanguinea has cellobiase activity as well. No o
ther cellulase complex enzymes were found. The lignolytic complex of C
. villosus contains laccase and ligninase; the P. sanguinea complex co
ntains only Mn-peroxidase, The optimal medium Mn2+ concentration for M
n-peroxidase formation was determined. A stimulating role of lignin on
Mn-peroxidase synthesis was found.
