The foraminifers Colaniella ex gr. parva (Colani) and Colaniella ex gr, min
ima (Wang) are described for the first time in Late Permian calcarenitic se
diments of the Pietra di Salomone (Sosio Valley, Sicily). These species, al
so recognised in redeposited intervals of the Triassic Monte Facito Formati
on (Southern Apennine. Lagonegro Basin), are here illustrated for the first
time. Their simultaneous presence indicates a Midian to Dzhulfian possibly
Dorashamian? age. The age of the redeposition of the calcarenites and calc
irudites, in Sicily and in Southern Apennine, is consequently Latest Permia
n (Dorashamian), or younger. (C) 2000 Academie des sciences / Editions scie
