A. Dodds, Migrate2: a PC program for modelling the generation, migration and accumulation of hydrocarbons in four dimensions, COMPUT GEOS, 26(7), 2000, pp. 795-808
The program Migrate2 models the formation, migration and accumulation of hy
drocarbons through time in a three-dimensional (3-D) model of part of a sed
imentary basin. The program is written in Visual C + + for the Win32 enviro
nment, and allows visualisation of both the input data for the model during
the model construction phase, and the results through all of the time step
s in the model. Program input consists of 3-D interpretations of seismic da
ta, together with physical data such as porosity and permeability, and geoc
hemical data, which is used to predict hydrocarbon formation. Output consis
ts of a series of 3-D models of the volume of rock through time, which can
be freely scaled and viewed from any angle, and coloured to represent a var
iety of parameters. This program is a preliminary stage for the full predic
tive modelling of hydrocarbon accumulation evolution. (C) 2000 Published by
