Abstract
Absorption, emission and lifetimes have been measured in the visible a nd the infrared region of Pr3+-doped glasses of composition: 35BaS-20Z nS-45GeS(2). Decays were found non-exponential for both the D-1(2) and (1)G(4) levels. The D-1(2) decays could be fitted with the Inokuti-Hi rayama model. For (1)G(4), a first e-folding time as low as 38 mu s wa s found because of the presence of OH- impurities within the glass.
