Abstract
New glass compositions have been investigated with the substitution of barium by K, Rb, Cs, Cd or Pb in ZBLA glass: 57ZrF(4)-34BaF(2)-5LaF(3 )-4AlF(3). Characteristic temperatures, density, refractive index, the rmal expansion coefficient and microhardness are reported. The correla tion between property values and composition is discussed by reference to chemical bonding and structure. The data may be useful for the des ign of special optical fibers.
