Abstract
The oxidative addition of acetic or formic acid to Pd-0(PPh3)(4) in DMF aff ords a cationic palladium(II) hydride, [trans-HPd(PPh3)(2)(DMF)](+), with a cetate or formate as the counter anion. The two reactions are reversible. T he equilibrium and kinetic constants of the oxidative additions have been d etermined.
